Installation
Install on FreeBSD / NetBSD
Deploy the TRIVLA agent on BSD systems with pf firewall integration and pkg-based dependency management.
BSD
FreeBSD & NetBSD installation
The BSD installer uses pkg (FreeBSD) or pkgin (NetBSD) to install libpcap, nDPI, libmaxminddb, and SQLite. Firewall rules are applied via pf.
Requirements
- ✓ FreeBSD 13+ or NetBSD 9+
- ✓ pf enabled in
/etc/rc.conf - ✓ Root access for package installation
- ✓ Valid TRIVLA license key
Quick install (FreeBSD)
fetch https://releases.trivla.com/agent/latest/install-freebsd.sh
sh install-freebsd.sh
trivla-agent license set trvl_YOUR_LICENSE_KEY
sysrc trivla_agent_enable=YES
service trivla-agent start
pf firewall configuration
TRIVLA manages pf anchor rules under /etc/pf.anchors/trivla. Ensure your main pf.conf includes:
anchor "trivla" {
load anchor "trivla" from "/etc/pf.anchors/trivla"
}
NetBSD notes
On NetBSD, use the NetBSD-specific installer and set firewall.backend = pf in /usr/local/etc/trivla/agent.conf. Packet capture uses bpf devices — ensure your interface is not blocked by securelevel.
ℹ
BSD agents support the same nDPI, HEP, and threat intelligence features as Linux agents. SIP/VoIP monitoring is fully supported on carrier SBC deployments.
